Introduction

Outline

In today's teaching, we will be examining the Roman Catholic Church. Our goal is to reveal the counter Biblical nature of Catholicism, examining its doctrines, its practices and history. We will examine its fruits, to determine what sort of tree it is, whether good or bad. This is something Jesus commanded us to do in Matthew 7:13-20. 

“Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.”

So let us examine those fruits to determine what manner of tree we are dealing with that is the Catholic church. 

A Word To Catholics

If you are a Catholic, it is important to know that the doctrines and history we will be examining today, are not strawman representations of the genuine article. They are in fact perfectly representative of the recorded history of the Catholic church, and in the case of doctrine: that which is officially held by the Catholic church and codified by the Catechism. 

We understand however that some professing Catholics do not adhere to these doctrines or are even aware of them. Many more are lied to by the Catholic church with feigned words (2 Peter 2, Romans 16: 17-18) and are simply deceived. To this we sympathize and is one of the main reasons we produced this teaching. Our goal is to show how the doctrines officially held by the Catholic church are unbiblical, and ultimately to present to you the biblical case for Christianity. Knowing that the unbiblical works based doctrines of Catholicism will set you squarely on a path to Hell, where the doctrines of the Bible are able to make you wise unto salvation (2 Timothy 3:15-17)

Our deepest prayer is for you as a Catholic to read this, and come into a real genuine belief in the Lord Jesus Christ, free from works, truly repentant, and born again. Why? Because ultimately that’s what matters most. 2 Corinthians 13:5 tells us to “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?” and Philippians 2:12 tells us to “... work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.”

The fact of the matter is Most Catholic people are sincere and well meaning, who have simply been deceived into believing what the Catholic church teaches. Or worse yet they do not agree with many of the doctrines, but refuse to depart and be separate and to: touch not the unclean thing (2 Corinthians 6:17). 

In doing so, they commit flagrant adultery against God, and idolatry through the pagan worship of venerating saints, worshipping Mary, and praying to false gods. Something God made abundantly clear we are not to do:

Exodus 20:3-5

“Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;”

God describes worshiping idols as hatred towards him, worshiping Mary who is not God, nor is she anything but the blessed woman chosen by God to bear Christ, is idol worship, and is utterly condemned in the Bible. Which explicitly commands you to have no fellowship with idolatry and the unfruitful works of darkness in Ephesians 5:5-12.

“For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

Be not ye therefore partakers with them. For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth) Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.”

Likewise many Catholics are completely unaware that their trust in the works is the very thing that scripture warned about in Ephesians 2:8-10.

Our goal is that you as a Catholic, would recognize through scripture and fact, that the Roman Catholic Church is an idolatrous wicked anti-biblical and anti-Christ organization, that we summarize has been prepared by Satan to deceive people into having a form of godliness but deny the power thereof (2 Timothy 3:1-9).  

The doctrines of the Catholic church are the very things Paul with tears warned about, night and day for a space of 3 years as found in Acts 20:28-31:

“Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them. Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.”

We understand that reading such things about a Church you potentially grew up in, have family and relationships with, and even have fond memories with, is a hard thing to hear. But Christ promised you that to follow Him, you must be willing to forsake all that you have.

Luke 14:33

“So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.”

So then, if Christ is your Lord, or that you have it in mind that He ought to be. Listen then now to what is covered in this teaching. Understand that it is not by works that you are saved, but by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8-10). Your salvation depends solely on the atoning work of Christ through His blood that was shed for you on that cross (Ephesians 1:7). You must repent of idolatry, remove yourself from that which is wicked and unclean, and trust alone in Christ Jesus for your salvation. Works are the fruit of your salvation, not its root. That root is Christ, and the fruit of being in Him is works from a pure heart unto God. 

Keep in mind your works are like filthy rags to God: Isaiah 64:6 

“But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.” 

Romans 3:19-23

“Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”

We pray that you will read this with an open heart, and that if you are indeed Catholic you will see your need to depart from Catholicism, and be set free by Christ alone. 

The Origins and History of the Catholic Church

The first part of this teaching will examine the Origins and History of the Roman Catholic Church. To do so we will start by explaining the Catechism.

The Catechism

The Catholic Catechism, officially known as the Catechism of the Catholic Church, or CCC, is the Roman Catholic Church's official, comprehensive summary of its doctrines and teachings. It was published in 1992 under Pope John Paul II and it follows a long history of Doctrines added by the Roman Catholic Church, most of which are unbiblical. 

Talmud & Catechism

In the days of Christ, there was something called the Talmud, which is  the body of Jewish civil and ceremonial law and legend comprising the Mishnah and the Gemara. There are two versions of the Talmud: the Babylonian Talmud (which dates from the 5th century AD but includes earlier material) and the earlier Palestinian or Jerusalem Talmud. This is something that is still in circulation today among modern Judaism. In Jesus’ day, it was the very thing they used to argue against the teachings of Christ, and not the Bible. Essentially the Talmud is a document or collection of writings and teachings from scribes and Pharisees taken as doctrinally superior to the Bible. Likewise today Jews still follow these writings, above that of Scripture. 

The Catholic Church is no different. The Catechism is the Talmud in all respects, but for the “christian”. Its creation dates all the way back to the Council of Trent of 1566.

Catechisms Superiority Over Scripture

The Catholic church, and especially the clergy, consider it to carry the same weight and authority as Scripture itself. Within the tapestry of self-authoritating, non-biblical Catholic doctrines, it is conveniently held that Sacred Tradition (the Catechism) and the Magisterium (the Church's teaching authority) are equal in authority to the Bible. The Catechism covers four pillars: the Creed, the Sacraments, the Commandments, and Prayer all of which rife with counter-biblical doctrine. The main unbiblical doctrines present within the Catechism are:

• Purgatory: a place of post-death purification where a soul can “earn” their way to heaven.

• The Pope's infallibility: justifying his god-like status among people.

• Doctrines concerning Mary: such as her being a “co-redemer” alongside Christ, doctrines of her immaculate conception, and bodily assumption.

• Transubstantiation: Where the priest performs the Eucharist “communion” in which the bread and wine are believed to become literally Christ's body and blood.

• Indulgences: Paying the church to be free to do certain sins, or reducing punishment for sin through works or payments.

• Prayers to saints: praying to saints, worshipping them with statues and “venerating” them.

These are only a few of the doctrines held by the Catholic church that are completely, and undeniably unbiblical. We aim to expose these doctrines, and present the Bible as our proof text in a later section. For now, we safely say that Catholics treat the Catechism as the main source of truth and doctrine.

The Name “Catholic”

But what about the name Catholic, where does it come from?

Jesus commanded us to fulfill the great commission (Matthew 28:19-20) the Apostles established and sealed doctrine which has been preserved to us in the KJV.

During the ministry of the Apostles, the Gospel spread across all of Asia and the Roman Empire. These early Christian communities, grounded in the teachings of Jesus and the Apostles, upheld Scripture as their authoritative guide. The Greek word katholikos, meaning "universal" or "according to the whole." is where we get the word Catholic. 

For the early Christian, it referred to the universal body of Christ’s followers who remained faithful to the teachings handed down by God through Christ and the Apostles. This term was used to describe the unified and orthodox Christian faith, distinguishing it from heretical groups like the Gnostics, who deviated from Apostolic doctrine. Over time, the term "Catholic Church" became a way to describe this global community of believers united in the same faith and practice.

However, over the centuries, the structure and practices of the Roman Catholic Church began to change and depart from the scriptures. This was something that was promised by Paul in Acts 20:29-30. As members of the faith gained political power, they introduced various traditions, rituals, and doctrines of devils (1 Timothy 4:1) that were not part of the original God given Apostolic teachings. Practices such as the veneration of saints, the use of indulgences, and the elevation of the Pope to a position of supreme authority equal to that of God, being called the “Vicar of Christ”.

The Vicar Of Christ

Now many Catholic apologists have defended against this saying that this title “The Vicar of Christ”, was never officially used. But that is simply not true. 

The phrase Vicarius Filii Dei, meaning "Vicar of the Son of God," has appeared in official Catholic documents for over nine centuries. To understand where it comes from, you need to understand a famous forged document called the “Donation of Constantine”.

The “Donation of Constantine” was a document that claimed the Roman Emperor Constantine was so grateful to Pope Sylvester I for baptizing him, that he handed the pope supreme authority over all the churches of the world and civil rulership over the Roman Empire. In short, it was a legal deed supposedly giving the papacy control over the world. 

The Catholic church used this document for over 700 years to claim that authority. However, it was later proven to be a complete forgery.

The Forgery

A scholar named Lorenzo Valla proved that it was a forgery in 1440 by examining the Latin language of the document itself. The document used words, phrases, and grammatical styles that did not exist until centuries after Constantine died. It’s like saying you found a document from the year 1200 that uses the word "internet." The language gave it away and revealed that there was no way this document was written in the life of Constantine. The document uses the word "feudum" (fief), a medieval feudal term that did not exist in Latin until centuries after Constantine. It uses bureaucratic and ecclesiastical terminology that belongs to the 8th or 9th century, not the 4th. The style of Latin itself matches medieval church Latin, not classical imperial Roman Latin. It references Constantinople as an established city and seat of power, but Constantine was still in the process of founding Constantinople when he supposedly wrote the document.

The Catholic Church's own official historian, Cardinal Cesare Baronius, later confirmed his findings in 1592, who admitted the document was fraudulent. Despite this, when Valla first published his findings in 1440, The Roman Catholic Church did not acknowledge the truth. Instead, 119 years later, the Vatican placed his work on the Index of Prohibited Books in 1559, making it a forbidden reading. 

The institution that had built its claim to world power on a forged document responded to the proof of that forgery by banning the proof.

Yet, at least ten popes had already cited that forged document as proof of their authority over the world.

Now, Catholic apologists will respond today and say the title “Vicarius Filii Dei” is not official because it came from that forged document. But that argument falls apart for two reasons.

First, the Roman Catholic Church treated that document as genuine for centuries and used it to justify their power and rule. Second, the title was used extensively to justify papal authority and was written into actual Catholic canon law. It appeared in official papal letters from Pope Leo IX in 1054 all the way through Pope Paul VI in 1968. Catholic canonists and scholars across the centuries used it. In 1915, Our Sunday Visitor, the largest Catholic newspaper in America at the time, stated plainly in print that the letters on the papal mitre were Vicarius Filii Dei, meaning Vicar of the Son of God.

The Title of the Pope Equals 666

Something interesting about this title is that it is directly tied to Revelation 13:18, which gives the number of the Beast as 666. The Latin numeral value of “Vicarius Filii Dei” (which is Latin for the title “The Vicar Of Christ”) adds up to 666.

Here is the calculation:

• V = 5

• I = 1

• C = 100

• A = 0

• R = 0

• I = 1

• U = 5

• S = 0

• F = 0

• I = 1

• L = 50

• I = 1

• I = 1

• D = 500

• E = 0

• I = 1

Total: 5+1+100+1+5+1+50+1+1+500+1 = 666

The connection between this title and the number 666 was first published in 1612. After that, the title quietly disappeared from the Catholic Church's official lists. 

Even if you want to argue that the title is irrelevant now as it is no longer in use, it was in use for over 700 years. The title itself “Vicar of Christ” in Latin literally means the same thing as Anti-Christ while adding up to the name. The argument one must have is that God must have accidentally, whoopsie-daisies, forgot to correct His supposedly “only church” on Earth from you know… Using the literal name of the Anti-Christ in meaning and in number?

The irony is the god of the catholic church is a god of confusion (1 Corinthians 14:33) and would do exactly this. 

The word vicar means substitute, the Greek word “anti” (the root of the word Antichrist) also means substitute as documented in Strong's Concordance entry 473. By the Biblical definition of the Greek text itself, a Vicar of Christ is a substitute for Christ. The term “Anti-Christ” literally means the same thing.

Someone who stands in the place of Jesus Christ on Earth. The Catholic Church has unknowingly announced themselves as the Antichrist. While blasphemously having a name for their Pope that literally means the same thing as Antichrist, with the same number: 666. In essence, they have been canonically and officially claiming for centuries to be led by the Antichrist. And as we will read shortly, that title is only fitting for them and their leader.

1 John 2:18

“Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.”

There were antichrists then who departed from the faith, and the antichrist spirit has led the catholic church for a millennia. 

The History/Fruits Of The Catholic Church

It is also important to be aware of the factual history of the Catholic church. Christ instructed we would know them by their fruits in Matthew 7:15-23 . In the same place he instructed us to look out for wolves in sheep’s clothing, false prophets. I submit unto you that at some point in the early Christian church these wolves did come in and attempt to pervert people against the true faith of Christ (Acts 20:29-31). 

So then let us look at the fruits of the Catholic church to see if indeed they are of God, or of the flesh and ultimately like the Jews before them, of the synagogue of Satan (Revelation 3:9, John 8:44-45). 

What follows is the documented historical record of the Roman Catholic Church, organized in the order these events occurred. These are not allegations or opinions. They are recorded history, confirmed by Catholic and secular scholarship alike.

The Persecution Of Early Christians: Catholic Church Turns On The Flock (4th-5th Century AD)

From the earliest centuries after the Apostles, the institution that would become the Roman Catholic Church began consolidating power by turning on those who disagreed with it doctrinally. 

Groups such as the Donatists, who insisted that the validity of the sacraments depended on the moral character of the priest administering them, a position with deep biblical grounding, were labelled heretics and persecuted by Catholic authorities. Many were tortured, exiled, or executed for their dissent. Keep in mind, the driving motivation was not doctrinal purity, it was power and control in a ravenous fashion. It was an institution that was only concerned with power, and as history will show, became increasingly more Roman than Christian.

The Crusades: Holy War In The ”Name Of God” (1096-1204 AD)

In 1095 AD, Pope Urban II launched the First Crusade, calling European Christians to take up arms and march on Jerusalem. What followed was centuries of religiously motivated slaughter carried out in the name of Jesus Christ, sanctioned and blessed by the papacy, with indulgences offered to all who participated.

What happened across these campaigns:

1096-1099, The First Crusade: Crusaders massacred Jewish communities across Europe before they even reached the Holy Land, then slaughtered tens of thousands of Muslims and Eastern Christians when they took Jerusalem. Contemporary accounts describe the streets running with blood.

1204, The Sacking of Constantinople: During the Fourth Crusade, Catholic Crusaders turned on Constantinople, the seat of Eastern Christianity, massacring thousands of fellow Christians, looting churches, desecrating altars, and placing a prostitute on the throne of the Patriarch. This event permanently destroyed any chance of unity between Eastern and Western Christianity.

The indulgence system meant that participation in these massacres was presented to soldiers as a direct path to heaven. This is the Church that claims to represent Jesus Christ, the same Christ who said 'blessed are the peacemakers' (Matthew 5:9).

This is the second fruit in our investigation showing the Roman Catholic Church's deeds are evil and is the whore of Babylon as written in Revelation 17.

The Albigensian Crusade: Slaughter Of The Cathars (1209-1229 AD)

In 1209 AD, Pope Innocent III launched a crusade not against Muslims or pagans, but against fellow Christians in southern France called the Cathars, who had rejected several Catholic doctrines. 

French forces under the command of the papal legate Arnaud Amalric descended on the region with orders to eliminate heresy. When soldiers asked how to distinguish Catholics from Cathars in the city of Beziers before the massacre, Amalric reportedly replied: 'Kill them all. God will know his own.' The city was burned to the ground with its entire population inside. Over the course of the twenty year campaign, entire cities were destroyed and thousands of men, women, and children were slaughtered indiscriminately in the name of Catholic orthodoxy.

The Inquisition: Centuries Of Torture In The Name Of Christ (1184-1800s)

Beginning formally in 1184 AD and continuing in various forms for nearly seven centuries, the Inquisition was an official Catholic institution established to identify, try, and punish those deemed heretical. This was a formal arm of the Church, staffed by Dominican friars, authorized by popes, and operating across Europe and the Catholic colonial world with impunity. 

Its documented methods included:

• The strappado: the accused had their hands bound behind their back and were suspended by a rope attached to the wrists, then dropped repeatedly.

• The rack: a device that stretched the body to the point of tearing joints from their sockets.

• Sleep deprivation, starvation, and prolonged imprisonment as tools of coercion.

• Public executions by burning at the stake, often preceded by garrotting (strangulation) if the accused recanted, or burned alive if they refused.

Primary targets included the Waldensians, the Cathars, Jews suspected of secretly practicing Judaism, and later Protestants. Foxe's Book of Martyrs documents hundreds of individual cases of believers executed under the Inquisition's authority for no crime other than their faith in Scripture.

The Waldensian Massacres: Catholic Church Hunted True Christians (1173-1685 AD)

Beginning in 1173 AD, the Roman Catholic Church, acting through papal decrees, crusading armies, and French royal forces, brutally persecuted the Bible-believing Waldensians, a movement founded in Lyon, France by Peter Waldo. They were a people who rejected purgatory, prayers to the dead, transubstantiation, and the authority of the pope. 

They held Scripture as the sole authority for Christians, translated the New Testament into common language, memorized entire books of the Bible, and preached salvation by faith alone, through grace alone, in Christ alone, over 400 years before the Protestant Reformation. Notably, they were among the first to identify the Catholic Church as the Harlot of Revelation and the papacy as the Antichrist.

What happened was the following sequence of events:

• 1184: Pope Lucius III declared them heretics and excommunicated them.

• 1211: More than 80 Waldensians were burned as heretics at Strasbourg.

• 1215: Pope Innocent III officially denounced them at the Fourth Lateran Council.

• 1251: Waldensians in Toulouse, France were massacred and their town burned to the ground.

• 1487: Pope Innocent VIII issued the Bull of Extermination (Id Nostri Cordis) calling all rulers to destroy the Waldensians by any means. He absolved all who participated of ecclesiastical penalties, promised remission of all sins to anyone who killed a heretic, authorized seizure of their property, and annulled all contracts with them.

• 1545, Massacre of Merindol: Two Waldensian towns and 28 surrounding villages in France were attacked by troops sent by Cardinal Tournon, the Archbishop of Lyons. Women were raped and approximately 4,000 people killed.

• 1655, Piedmont Easter Massacre: An army of 15,000 troops quartered themselves in Waldensian homes as a supposed act of goodwill, then rose before dawn and slaughtered their hosts. Between 2,000 and 6,000 were killed. The poet John Milton wrote his famous sonnet 'On the Late Massacre in Piedmont' in response. Oliver Cromwell declared a national day of prayer in England.

• 1685: French troops forced 8,000 Waldensians to convert to Catholicism, killed approximately 2,000, and imprisoned 8,500 in fortresses. Their properties were confiscated.

The Church viewed any group that held Scripture above Church authority as a direct threat to papal power, and sought their total elimination.

This is the fifth fruit in our investigation showing the Roman Catholic Church's deeds are evil and is the whore of Babylon as written in Revelation 17.

Gilles De Rais: Child Murder And Demon Worship Tried Before The Catholic Church (1440 AD)

In 1440 AD, Gilles de Rais, Marshal of France and close associate of Joan of Arc, was tried before a Catholic ecclesiastical court under the Bishop of Nantes on charges of murdering 140 or more children. 

The case is documented in detail in The Book of Werewolves (1865) by Anglican clergyman Sabine Baring-Gould, freely available at archive.org. His personal priest, Eustache Blanchet, was among the witnesses who gave testimony against him.

The trial records document the following:

• Children who came to his castles begging for food were abducted by his servants, tortured, murdered, dismembered, and subjected to post-mortem abuse.

• He confessed to signing a pact with a demon named Barron in his own blood, seeking knowledge, power, and riches.

• Servants were ordered to remove approximately 40 skeletons of children from a castle tower and burn them to destroy evidence.

• In his own confession he stated he could not determine with certainty the number of children he had killed because there were so many.

• He had named a chapel at his castle the Chapel of the Holy Innocents and staffed it with a boys' choir he personally selected.

This man was not on the fringes of Catholic society. He was a Marshal of France, one of the most powerful men in the country, tried and convicted before a Catholic ecclesiastical court that had full knowledge of his crimes.

This is the sixth fruit in our investigation showing the Roman Catholic Church's deeds are evil and is the whore of Babylon as written in Revelation 17.

The Persecution Of Protestant Reformers: the Catholic church Burns Those Who Dare Open The Bible (15th-16th Century)

As faithful men began returning to Scripture and challenging the doctrines of the Roman Catholic Church, the Church responded with executions. Foxe's Book of Martyrs, written by a contemporary witness to many of these events, catalogs hundreds of individual believers tortured and killed for their faith.

Among the most documented cases:

• John Huss (burned 1415): A Bohemian reformer who rejected papal authority and transubstantiation. He was promised safe conduct to the Council of Constance, then arrested and burned at the stake. He reportedly sang hymns as he burned.

• William Tyndale (executed 1536): Strangled and burned at the stake for translating the Bible into English so ordinary people could read it. His final words were reported as: 'Lord, open the King of England's eyes.'

• Anne Askew (burned 1546): A Protestant woman tortured on the rack so severely that she had to be carried to the stake in a chair, then burned alive.

• John Rogers (burned 1555): The first Protestant martyr under Queen Mary I, burned while his wife and eleven children watched.

• Nicholas Ridley and Hugh Latimer (burned 1555): Burned at the stake during the Marian Persecutions. As the flames were lit, Latimer said to Ridley: 'Be of good comfort, Master Ridley, and play the man. We shall this day light such a candle by God's grace in England as I trust shall never be put out.'

• Thomas Cranmer (burned 1556): Archbishop of Canterbury, burned under Mary I. He thrust his right hand into the flame first, saying it had signed a recantation and must be punished first.

In 1487 AD, Dominican inquisitors Heinrich Kramer and Jacob Sprenger published the Malleus Maleficarum (Hammer of Witches) with the endorsement of Pope Innocent VIII. This document became the official Catholic handbook for identifying, torturing, and executing those accused of witchcraft. 

Over the following three centuries, thousands of people, the vast majority of them women, were accused, tortured into confession, and executed, most commonly by burning at the stake. The Catholic Church did not merely permit these hunts. It provided their theological justification, their legal framework, and their institutional machinery through the Inquisition.

What followed was one of the largest campaigns of forced religious conversion, enslavement, and cultural destruction in human history. 

Catholic missionaries operating under papal authority oversaw the destruction of indigenous cultures, languages, and peoples across North America, South America, and the Caribbean. The encomienda system, blessed by the Church, essentially legalized the slave labor of indigenous populations in the name of “evangelism”. 

Many died under brutal conditions, overwork, and European diseases introduced by the oppressors. The gospel was not shared, and the conversion to Catholicism was offered at the point of a sword, with death as the alternative.

St. Bartholomew's Day Massacre: The Pope Celebrates The Slaughter Of Protestants (1572 AD)

On August 24, 1572 AD, the Catholic monarchy of France orchestrated the mass murder of Huguenots (French Protestants) in what became known as the St. Bartholomew's Day Massacre. Beginning in Paris and spreading across France, estimates of those killed range from 3,000 to as many as 70,000 men, women, and children. 

When news reached the Catholic church, Pope Gregory XIII ordered a Te Deum, a hymn of thanksgiving, to be sung in celebration, and commissioned a commemorative medal to mark the occasion. He also sent a cardinal's legate to France to congratulate the king. The Catholic Church officially celebrated the mass murder of Protestant Christians as a victory for God.

From 1618 to 1648 AD, Europe was torn apart by a war between Catholic and Protestant powers that resulted in an estimated 8 million deaths from combat, famine, and disease. 

Catholic authorities actively encouraged and participated in the conflict as part of a broader effort to roll back the Protestant Reformation by military force. 

Civilians were massacred, cities burned, and entire regions depopulated. The war did not end through victory but through exhaustion, with the Peace of Westphalia in 1648 finally recognizing that neither side could annihilate the other. 

The Catholic Church's role in encouraging this conflict as a religious crusade against Protestantism is part of the documented historical record.

The Persecution Of The Jews: Centuries Of Catholic Anti-Semitism

Throughout the medieval and early modern periods, the Catholic Church systematically persecuted Jewish populations across Europe. Theological teaching from Catholic authorities blamed Jews collectively for the death of Christ and presented them as enemies of Christian society. The practical results of this teaching were devastating:

• Jews were forced into walled ghettos in cities across Europe under Church-backed legislation.

• The Spanish Inquisition specifically targeted conversos, Jews who had converted to Christianity but were suspected of secretly continuing Jewish practices, and subjected them to torture and execution.

• In 1492, acting in coordination with the Inquisition, Catholic monarchs Ferdinand and Isabella expelled the entire Jewish population from Spain, an estimated 200,000 people, under threat of death.

• Pogroms and mass violence against Jewish communities were repeatedly incited across Europe throughout the medieval period, with the Church providing the theological foundation for anti-Jewish hatred.

Religious Censorship And Book Burnings: the Catholic church Suppresses The Truth

From the earliest days of its consolidation of power, the Roman Catholic Church systematically suppressed any written work that challenged its authority or doctrines. The Index Librorum Prohibitorum, the official Catholic list of forbidden books, was established in 1559 and maintained until 1966, spanning over four centuries of enforced intellectual censorship. 

Works by William Tyndale, Martin Luther, Copernicus, and Galileo were all placed on this list. William Tyndale's English Bible was burned publicly. When scholar Lorenzo Valla proved in 1440 that the Donation of Constantine, the document the Catholic church used to justify its claim to world power, was a forgery, the Vatican's response was to place his work on the forbidden books list in 1559. The evidence that the Roman Catholic Church had built its empire on a lie was made illegal to read.

The Syllabus Of Errors: The Pope Condemns Human Freedom (1864 AD)

In 1864 AD, Pope Pius IX published the Syllabus of Errors, a formal papal document condemning a list of what he called modern errors. Among the things officially condemned as heretical by the Catholic Church were: freedom of religion, freedom of conscience, the separation of Church and state, and the idea that the pope should not exercise temporal authority over civil governments.

In short, the official position of the Roman Catholic Church as of 1864 was that religious liberty itself was a heresy. This document was an official papal teaching, published under the full authority of the papacy.

The Reichskonkordat: The Vatican Signs A Treaty With Adolf Hitler (1933 AD)

On July 20, 1933 AD, the Vatican formally signed a treaty with Adolf Hitler's Germany. The document was signed by Cardinal Eugenio Pacelli, the future Pope Pius XII, and was witnessed by Monsignor Giovanni Battista Montini, the future Pope Paul VI. 

Both Pope Pius XI and Hitler had already approved the agreement before signing. The treaty required all Catholic bishops in Germany to swear an oath of loyalty to the German Reich and effectively removed the Catholic Centre Party, Germany's organized Catholic political opposition, from any position of resistance to Hitler. 

Hitler interpreted the concordat as international approval of his regime. As historian Fritz Stern documented, it was Hitler's first international agreement and vastly enhanced his respectability both in Germany and abroad. The treaty remains legally in force to this day and has never been abrogated by either party.

The Ustasha Genocide In Croatia: Catholic Clergy Participates In The Holocaust (1941-1945 AD)

From 1941 to 1945 AD, the Nazi-installed Ustasha regime in Croatia carried out genocide against Serbs, Jews, and Roma, killing over 750,000 Serbs, 60,000 Jews, and 26,000 Roma. Many were killed at Jasenovac, the war's third largest death camp. The Catholic clergy present were active participants.

• Archbishop Alojzije Stepinac of Zagreb visited Ustasha leader Ante Pavelic the day after his arrival in Zagreb to personally congratulate him.

• Stepinac issued a Pastoral Letter ordering the Croatian clergy to support the new Ustasha state.

• He arranged for Pavelic to be received personally by Pope Pius XII at the Vatican.

• The official journal of the Zagreb Archbishopric reprinted a public speech calling for one third of Serbs to be slaughtered, one third deported, and one third forcibly converted to Catholicism.

• Catholic field chaplains were assigned to every unit of the Ustasha army, with a documented role of encouraging soldiers in their killings of the civilian population.

• 240,000 Serbs were forcibly re-baptized into Catholicism under threat of death.

• After the war, Archbishop Stepinac was convicted of war crimes by Yugoslav authorities. The Vatican controversially beatified him in 1998.

The Nazi Ratlines: Vatican Clergy Helps War Criminals Escape Justice (1945 Onward)

After World War II ended in 1945, Catholic bishops, priests, and Vatican-connected institutions organized escape routes for Nazi war criminals fleeing Allied justice. These networks, known as ratlines, helped an estimated 9,000 Nazis escape to South America and other destinations. Evidence of Vatican involvement is not circumstantial. It is documented in U.S. State Department reports, memoirs of the participants, and the confessions of those involved.

• Bishop Alois Hudal personally greeted Franz Stangl, commandant of the Treblinka death camp responsible for nearly one million Jewish deaths, at his Vatican-connected residence by name, saying 'I have been expecting you,' then provided him with forged documents to escape to Argentina.

• Adolf Eichmann, the architect of the Holocaust, escaped through the same network.

• Josef Mengele, the Auschwitz doctor who conducted cruel medical experiments on children, fled to Argentina through Italy with the help of the Catholic Church.

• Monsignor Karl Bayer, the Catholic church's Director of Caritas International after the war, confirmed in a 1970s interview that Pope Pius XII provided money for the escape network.

• The U.S. State Department's 1947 La Vista Report formally documented the Vatican's involvement in these networks.

The Vatican Bank, Freemasonry, And Murder: God's Banker Found Hanging (1982 AD)

On June 18, 1982 AD, Roberto Calvi, chairman of Banco Ambrosiano and known throughout Italy as 'God's Banker' for his close ties to the Vatican Bank, was found hanging beneath Blackfriars Bridge in London with bricks stuffed in his pockets. Italian courts formally recognized his death as a homicide in 2002 after forensic evidence proved he could not have hanged himself in the manner found.

• Calvi was a member of Propaganda Due (P2), an illegal Masonic lodge whose members called themselves 'frati neri,' meaning black friars. His body was found beneath Blackfriars Bridge.

• The Vatican Bank owned shares in Banco Ambrosiano. Archbishop Paul Marcinkus, head of the Vatican Bank, signed letters of patronage for the ghost companies that received $1.4 billion in fraudulent loans.

• When Italian investigators visited Marcinkus at Vatican Bank headquarters, he refused to answer their questions, citing Vatican City's status as a sovereign state. He was never prosecuted.

• The murder indictment stated that Calvi was killed to prevent him from exposing financial connections between the Vatican Bank, the P2 Masonic lodge, and the Sicilian Mafia.

• In 1981, police raids on the P2 lodge's grandmaster revealed a membership list of nearly 1,000 prominent names. The revelation caused the Italian Prime Minister and entire cabinet to resign overnight.

The Global Child Abuse Scandal: Documented Institutional Evil (1950s To Present)

The sexual abuse of children by Catholic clergy is not an isolated scandal or the sin of a few bad individuals. It is a documented global institutional crime, confirmed by government investigations, royal commissions, and grand jury reports across multiple continents, covering decades of abuse and systematic cover-up at the highest levels of the Church hierarchy.

• United States: The John Jay College study found 4,392 priests plausibly accused of abusing 10,667 minors between 1950 and 2002. More than 6,000 clergy have been credibly accused total. The 2018 Pennsylvania grand jury found over 300 priests abused more than 1,000 children over seven decades with systematic cover-up. Between 2004 and 2023 the US Catholic Church paid more than $5 billion in abuse related costs.

• France: A 2021 government commission documented approximately 216,000 victims of abuse by Catholic clergy between 1950 and 2020. When abuse by lay people in Catholic institutions is included, the figure rises to approximately 330,000.

• Spain: A 2023 public investigation found an estimated 200,000 children sexually abused by Catholic clergy.

• Ireland: An estimated 15,000 underage victims. Over 1,300 clergy accused, 82 convicted.

• Australia: The Royal Commission found 7 percent of Catholic priests were accused of abusing children between 1950 and 2010. In some dioceses more than 15 percent of priests were perpetrators.

• Germany: A 2018 report found 1,670 clergymen abused 3,677 children between 1946 and 2015.

• Africa: A 1998 report found nuns across Africa had been frequent targets of sexual harassment and rape by priests and bishops. In some cases offending priests insisted that pregnant nuns have abortions, despite abortion being condemned by Catholic teaching.

The documented cover-up methods included transferring abusive priests to new parishes or to other countries, refusing to cooperate with civil authorities during investigations, opposing legal reforms that would help survivors pursue justice, and invoking confessional secrecy under canon law to avoid reporting known abuse. In 2014, the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child formally condemned the Vatican's global response.

What The Fruit Tells Us

Jesus said in Matthew 7:20: 'Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.' The fruit documented above spans nineteen centuries. It covers the murder of Bible-believing Christians, the slaughter of Jews, the abuse of children, the sheltering of Nazi war criminals, financial corruption of the highest order, and formal treaties with one of history's greatest monsters. 

If you are a Catholic reading this, we ask you plainly: do you stand with this history? Or do you see the error in it? If you see it, then flee, as Christ warned you in Revelation 18:4: 'Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.'

The fruit of the Catholic church is nothing short of Satanic and evil. For whatever good grains of things you can pull from that Catholic Church, whether it be writers, or select men throughout history. The History of the Catholic Church, rooted deeply in pagan worship and idolatry, murder, rape, and torture, is everything you need to know of who sits at its head. 

There are many branches of the Church of Satan, in fact every, and all religions that are outside biblical adherence and command, whether they be “Christian” or Muslim, Jew, Buddhist, Or Pantheist, are all part of the systems of the world, and the god of this world (2 Corinthians 4:4). 

The Jews have their father the devil as Jesus said in John 8:44-45, the Muslims worship the “greatest deceiver", the charismatics word of faith prosperity church again serve a different Jesus, the Mormons, Jehovah's witnesses, the Adventists, and all the like such denominations and peoples who separate themselves apart from scripture are indeed not serving our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 16:17-18 says

“Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. For they that are suchserve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speechesdeceivethe hearts of the simple.

Do not be deceived, brothers and sisters. While this teaching focuses on the Catholic church, there are many such antichrist spirits in the world as is Scripture. You must make doubly sure your heart, mind, life, and beliefs are right in the sight of God as delivered unto us by Scripture. Lest you stand before the Mighty one and die in your sins. 

If you are a Catholic, repent and do as James 4:7-10 says:

“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.

Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.”

Doctrinal Heresies Dismantled

The last and final indictment in our examination of the Catholic Church is its own official doctrine. What follows is a dismantling of the unbiblical beliefs found directly within the Catholic Catechism, the Church's own published summary of what it officially teaches and requires its members to believe. We will present each doctrine and let Scripture answer it.

The body of Christ is defined as those who walk in the truth of God, follow after Scripture, and obey the commands of Christ (John 14:15; 1 John 2:3-6). By that standard, the Roman Catholic Church disqualifies itself, not by our judgment, but by its own published doctrines measured against the Word of God.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC), published in 1992 under Pope John Paul II, is the Catholic church's official comprehensive summary of its doctrines and teachings. It carries Scripture-level authority according to the Catholic institution. Its roots go back to the Council of Trent (1545-1563), which was called specifically in response to the Protestant Reformation, and was the Catholic Church’s deliberate effort to codify and defend doctrines that the Reformers had challenged with Scripture.

What follows is a comparison of what the Catholic Church officially teaches against what the Bible plainly says. In every case the source from the Catechism is cited so that no one can accuse us of misrepresentation.

The Ten Commandments: Removal Of Idolatry

A lesser known fact is the Catholic church is responsible for removing the Second Commandment from its Catechism. The Second Commandment as God gave it in Exodus 20:4-5 reads:

"Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them."

The Catholic Catechism omits this commandment entirely from its official list. To maintain the count of ten, they split the Tenth Commandment into two: thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, and thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's goods.

This is directly verifiable by comparing Exodus 20:1-17 against the CCC's treatment of the Decalogue in sections 2052-2557. The removal is documented in Catholic catechisms going back to the Council of Trent.

The Catholic Church teaches that bowing before statues and images is acceptable worship:

• If the Second Commandment of Exodus 20:4-5 explicitly forbids making graven images and bowing down to them, and if Revelation 21:8 says idolaters have their part in the lake of fire, why has the Catholic church removed this commandment from its official list?

• If the Catholic church's removal of the Second Commandment is not an attempt to eliminate the biblical prohibition against the very practice it promotes, what is the explanation for its removal?

• If Scripture warns against adding to or taking away from the Word of God (Proverbs 30:6; Revelation 22:18-19), what does the removal of an entire commandment say about the Catholic church's relationship to Scripture?

Mary: The Elevation Of A Servant To A Goddess

It is true Mary was a faithful servant of God, chosen to bear the Lord Jesus Christ, and blessed among women. Scripture even says in Luke 1:28 that she was highly favored, and in Luke 1:48 that all generations shall call her blessed. These are true statements. What follows, however, is the Catholic church's official teaching about Mary that goes far beyond anything Scripture says, and in several cases directly contradicts it.

The Catholic Church teaches Mary is sinless (CCC 494).

• If Mary is sinless, why does she herself say in Luke 1:47 'And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour'? A saviour is only needed by one who requires saving. Mary confessed her need of a saviour in her own words.

The Catholic Church teaches Mary is a co-mediatrix between us and God (CCC 969).

• If Mary is a co-mediatrix between us and God, why does 1 Timothy 2:5 say plainly: 'For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus'? The text says one. The Catholic church says two.

The Catholic Church teaches Mary is co-redeemer (CCC 494).

• If Mary is co-redeemer, why does Acts 4:12 state: 'Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved'? That name is Jesus, not Jesus and Mary.

The Catholic Church teaches Mary is to be worshipped as the Queen of Heaven who presides over the Eucharist (Pope Pius XII and John Paul II).

• If Mary is the Queen of Heaven, why do Jeremiah 7:18, 44:17, and 44:25 specifically forbid the worship and offering of cakes and wine to the Queen of Heaven, calling it wickedness that provokes God to wrath?

• If Mary is the Queen of Heaven, why is the Queen of Heaven referred to in the days of Jeremiah, centuries before Mary was born? The Queen of Heaven in Scripture is the pagan goddess Astarte (Ashtoreth), worshipped in the ancient Near East and the same goddess of fertility that we get the name Easter from. Why is the Catholic church associating Mary with a condemned pagan idol?

Idols And The Dead: Practices God Calls Abominations

The Catholic church literally teaches that we should pray to the dead. This is something that is utterly condemned in Scripture with Saul dying for his transgression in 1 Chronicles 10:13. Deuteronomy 18:10-13 says 

“There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee. Thou shalt be perfect with the LORD thy God.”

God considers it an abomination, the Catholic church says go for it:

The Catholic Church teaches that bowing down to and venerating statues of saints is acceptable (CCC 2132).

• If 1 John 2:3-4 says we know God by keeping His commandments, and if the Second Commandment (Exodus 20:4-5) defines idolatry as bowing down to graven images, and if Revelation 21:8 says idolaters have their part in the lake of fire, what does it mean that the Catholic church removed this commandment and then promotes the exact practice it forbids?

The Catholic Church teaches that praying to dead saints is acceptable and encouraged (CCC 956).

• If praying to and inquiring of the dead is a death penalty offense under the Law of God (Leviticus 19:31; 20:6; 20:27; 1 Samuel 28:9), why should any professing Christian pray to dead saints?

• If Isaiah 8:19 says 'And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead?', why does the Catholic church direct its people to pray to the dead rather than to the living God?

Scripture And Tradition: The Catholic Church Places Itself Above The Word Of God

This is perhaps the foundational error from which all other errors flow. The Catholic church does not submit to Scripture alone. It places the Magisterium (the Church's teaching authority) and Sacred Tradition on equal footing with the Bible, meaning the Church's own rulings carry the same weight as the Word of God.

The Catholic Church teaches that Sacred Tradition and the Magisterium are equal in authority to Scripture (CCC 80-82).

• If Jesus rebuked the Pharisees in Matthew 15:9 saying 'But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men,' what does it mean that the Catholic church explicitly places the commandments of men on equal footing with Scripture?

• If Proverbs 30:6 says 'Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar,' and if 1 Corinthians 4:6 says 'not to think of men above that which is written,' what authority does the Catholic church have to add tradition to Scripture?

• If Revelation 22:18-19 warns that anyone who adds to the words of this book will receive the plagues written in it, why does the Catholic church add to the Word of God and call it equal authority?

• If Galatians 1:8-9 says that even an angel from heaven preaching another gospel is accursed, what does this mean for an institution that has built a system of doctrines on traditions not found in Scripture, and who preach a different Gospel?

Baptismal Regeneration: Water Cannot Save

The Catholic church teaches that the water of baptism itself regenerates the soul, removes original sin, and is necessary for salvation. This places a physical ritual performed by a man between the sinner and God, and makes a work of the flesh a condition of eternal life. Scripture teaches no such thing.

The Catholic Church teaches that baptism is necessary for salvation and that it removes original sin and regenerates the soul (CCC 1213, 1257).

• If Ephesians 2:8-9 says 'For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast,' and if water baptism is a work performed by men, how does the Catholic church justify making it a requirement for salvation?

• If the thief on the cross was promised by Christ 'To day shalt thou be with me in paradise' (Luke 23:43) without being baptized, how does the Catholic church's position that baptism is required for salvation account for this?

• If Romans 10:9-10 says 'That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved,' and no water is mentioned, what is the basis for adding baptism as a condition?

• If 1 Peter 3:21 says baptism saves 'not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,' meaning it is the inward reality that saves and not the outward water, how does the Catholic church justify teaching that the water itself regenerates the soul?

The Atonement And Purgatory: The Catholic Church Says The Cross Was Not Enough

If there is one place where the Catholic Church's departure from Scripture is most grievous, it is here. The finished work of Christ on the cross is the foundation of the Christian faith. The Catholic Church adds to it a place of post-death suffering where souls must burn away the remaining punishment for sin before entering heaven. In doing so, the Catholic Church declares by its own doctrine that the work of Christ on the cross, and His blood shed for our sins, was not enough.

The Catholic Church teaches that souls must atone for their own sins in purgatory after death (CCC 1030-1031; 1459).

• If 1 John 1:7 says 'the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin,' what sin remains that requires further punishment in purgatory?

• If Jesus said from the cross 'It is finished' (John 19:30), what does the Catholic church mean when it teaches that something still remains to be paid after death?

• If 2 Corinthians 5:8 says to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord, and Philippians 1:23 says departing to be with Christ is far better, where does purgatory fit in Paul's understanding of death?

• If Hebrews 10:14 says 'For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified,' what offering does the Catholic church believe still needs to be made in purgatory?

The Catholic Church teaches it is impossible to know whether one will enter heaven (Council of Trent, Session 6, Canon 16; reaffirmed in Vatican II).

The Eucharist And The Mass: A Re-Sacrifice the Catholic Church Has No Authority To Perform

The Catholic Church teaches that at every mass, the priest calls Christ down from heaven and he is physically present in the bread and wine, and that this constitutes a re-offering of his sacrifice. This is performed thousands of times per day around the world. Scripture addresses this directly, repeatedly, and without ambiguity.

The Catholic Church teaches that Jesus Christ dies again at every mass at the command of the priest (CCC 1367, 1374).

• If Hebrews 9:25-26 says Christ did 'not offer himself often' and 'now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself,' how does the Catholic church justify a sacrifice performed thousands of times per day around the world?

• If Romans 6:9 says 'Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him,' how does he die at every mass?

• If 1 Peter 3:18 says 'Christ also hath once suffered for sins,' and Hebrews 10:10-12 says he offered 'one sacrifice for sins for ever,' what authority does the Catholic church have to re-offer that sacrifice?

• If Moses was prevented from entering the Promised Land for striking the Rock twice (Numbers 20:11-12), and if the Rock is Christ (1 Corinthians 10:4), what does the perpetual striking of that Rock in the mass mean for those who perform it?

The Catholic Church teaches the wine of the mass is the literal blood of Christ (CCC 1374).

• If Acts 15:29 commands to 'abstain from blood,' and the wine of the mass is the literal blood of Christ by the Catholic church's own teaching, why do Catholics drink it?

The Catholic Church teaches that Jesus is physically present in the bread and wine during the Eucharist (CCC 1374, transubstantiation).

• If Matthew 24:26-27 says 'if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not... For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be,' why does the Catholic church direct its people to believe Christ is physically present in a wafer in a tabernacle?

• If Acts 1:11 says Christ will return 'in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven,' and Revelation 1:7 says 'every eye shall see him,' why does the Catholic church claim he is physically present in thousands of churches simultaneously, seen by none?

Popes And Priests: the Catholic Church Builds A Priesthood Scripture Never Authorized

The Catholic Church has constructed an entire hierarchical priesthood, headed by a pope claimed to be infallible, with priests acting as mediators between God and the people. None of this structure is found in the New Testament. What Scripture does teach directly contradicts The Catholic Church's claims at nearly every point.

The Catholic Church teaches that priests are to be called Father and the pope Holy Father.

• If Matthew 23:9 records Jesus saying 'And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven,' what authority does the Catholic church have to require its priests to be addressed as Father and its pope as Holy Father?

The Catholic Church teaches that Peter was the first pope and that all popes are infallible in matters of faith and morals (CCC 891; First Vatican Council, 1870).

• If papal infallibility was not declared as doctrine until 1870, what were all the popes before 1870?

• If Peter was the first infallible pope, why was he publicly rebuked by Paul to his face in Galatians 2:11-14 for walking contrary to the truth of the gospel?

• If Peter was the first pope and supreme authority over the church, why does James give the binding decision of the Jerusalem Council in Acts 15:19 and not Peter?

• If Jesus is the Rock and cornerstone upon which the Church is built (1 Corinthians 10:4; Matthew 21:42; Ephesians 2:20; 1 Peter 2:6-7), and if Peter's name means little stone or small rock in Aramaic, how is Peter the rock on which Christ built his church?

• If Christ appointed twelve apostles to lead the Church, why did he need a pope?

The Catholic Church teaches that sins must be confessed to a priest in private confession (CCC 1456).

• If 1 John 1:9 says 'If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins,' and the he is God, why does the Catholic church insert a priest between the sinner and God?

• If James 5:16 says 'Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another,' and if 1 Peter 2:9 says all believers are 'a royal priesthood,' why are Catholics required to confess only to an ordained Catholic priest?

• Could the doctrine of forced celibacy, which Paul calls a doctrine of demons in 1 Timothy 4:1-3, be among the causes of the documented global child abuse scandal within the Catholic priesthood?

Marriage: the Catholic church Forbids What God Calls Good

The Catholic Church forbids its priests, nuns, and pope from marrying, calling celibacy a higher spiritual state. Scripture calls this exactly what it is. Paul, writing under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, named the forbidding of marriage a doctrine of demons. This is not our language. It is God's.

• If Paul says in 1 Corinthians 9:5 that apostles have a right to bring a believing wife on mission, why does the Catholic church deny this right to its clergy?

• If all believers are priests (1 Peter 2:9; Revelation 1:6; 5:10; 20:6), and if priests cannot marry, should not every Catholic be celibate by their own logic?

• If Hebrews 13:4 says 'Marriage is honourable in all,' who does the Catholic church believe is included in the word all?

Last Rites And Extreme Unction: A Sacrament With No Biblical Foundation

The Catholic Church teaches that at the moment of death, a priest must administer a final sacrament called Extreme Unction or Last Rites to prepare the soul for death and remove any remaining sin. This sacrament has no foundation in Scripture and contradicts the finished work of Christ directly.

• If salvation is by grace through faith alone (Ephesians 2:8-9) and the blood of Christ cleanses from all sin (1 John 1:7), what sin remains to be removed by a final ritual performed by a priest at the moment of death?

• If James 5:14-15, which the Catholic church cites as the basis for this sacrament, says 'the prayer of faith shall save the sick,' why does the Catholic church transform a passage about healing the living into a sacrament for preparing the dying?

• If Luke 23:43 shows that the thief on the cross was promised paradise by Christ without any final sacrament, what is the biblical basis for Last Rites being necessary for salvation?

The Rosary: Vain Repetition Directed To The Dead

The Rosary is the Catholic Church's central devotional prayer practice. It consists of repeated cycles of prayers directed primarily to Mary, asking her to intercede for the living. Scripture forbids both the practice of vain repetition in prayer and the directing of prayer to the dead. The Rosary violates both prohibitions simultaneously.

• If 1 Timothy 2:5 says there is one mediator between God and men, Jesus Christ, why does the Rosary direct prayer primarily to Mary as mediatrix?

• If Leviticus 19:31 and 20:6 forbid inquiring of the dead under penalty of death, and if Mary is dead in the body, what is the difference between praying to Mary and the necromancy God forbids?

Limbo: A Doctrine the Catholic Church Invented And Then Abandoned

For centuries The Catholic Church taught that unbaptized infants who died went to Limbo, a place of natural happiness but permanent exclusion from the presence of God. In 2007 The Catholic Church quietly modified this position, stating it now entrusts such infants to God's mercy. This single fact alone raises a question The Vatican cannot answer without destroying its own claim to infallibility.

The Catholic Church taught for centuries that unbaptized infants go to Limbo, a state of natural happiness but permanent exclusion from God (previously held; modified in 2007 to 'entrusting them to God's mercy').

• If this doctrine was held and taught as truth for centuries and then modified, what does that say about the infallibility of Catholic teaching?

• If Matthew 19:14 records Jesus saying 'Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven,' where does Limbo come from?

• If the Catholic church's position changed in 2007, was the Church wrong before 2007? And if it was wrong then, how can Catholics be certain it is not wrong now?

Salvation: the Catholic Church's Gospel Is A Different Gospel

The most serious departure of all is the Catholic church's teaching on how a person is saved. The Catholic system of salvation involves baptism, the sacraments, penance, purgatory, indulgences, and obedience to the Church. Scripture teaches something entirely different.

The Catholic Church teaches that salvation requires keeping the sacraments and the commandments (Council of Trent, Session 6; CCC 2068).

• If Romans 3:20 says 'Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight,' and Romans 3:28 says 'a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law,' what is the basis for the Catholic church's sacramental system of salvation?

• If Galatians 5:4 says 'whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace,' what does this mean for Catholics who are trusting in the sacraments for their standing before God?

• If Titus 3:5 says God saves us 'not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy,' what works of righteousness does the Catholic church believe are still necessary?

The Catholic Church teaches that indulgences can reduce the punishment for sin in purgatory, and historically were sold for money (CCC 1471-1479).

• If Acts 8:20 records Peter rebuking Simon for thinking the gift of God could be purchased with money, what does the Catholic church's historic sale of indulgences say about its relationship to the apostolic faith it claims to represent?

• If the blood of Christ cleanses from all sin (1 John 1:7), what sin remains that requires an indulgence?

• Furthermore if indulgences allow one to purchase away their sins, what purpose was Christ's work on the cross, or his commandments to take up our cross (Matthew 16:24), to deny ourselves (Luke 9:23), and like it says in John 8:11 to go and sin no more? Why did Jesus tell us that if our eye causes us to sin to pluck it out, for it is better to enter into life blind than to enter Hell with our sin in Matthew 18:8-9?

• If a billion Catholics cannot be wrong, why does Jesus say in Matthew 7:13-14 that the way to life is narrow and few find it, while the way to destruction is broad and many go in at it? Numbers do not establish truth. Scripture does.

• If Paul warns in 2 Corinthians 11:4-5 of those who preach another Jesus and another gospel, and if Galatians 1:8-9 says that anyone preaching another gospel is accursed, what do you think will be the judgement of the Catholic Church mentioned in Revelation 17 for their preaching a false gospel?

The reality is the doctrines of the Catholic Church do not come from the Bible, but from devils as it says in 1 Timothy 4:1-3:

“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter timessomeshall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.”

The Catholic Church, the Catechism, the Pope, the doctrines of venerating saints, of worshiping idols, praying in repetition, worshipping Mary, and all the like such things are exactly what this verse is describing. Being so accurate to describe those who have departed from the faith as ones who forbid marriage. What other so-called “church” has done this besides the Catholic Church?

If you are Catholic reading this, “...Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.” Revelation 18:4.

It is time that you depart from what is evil, and learn the true Gospel of Jesus Christ, and be saved.

The True Gospel Explained Indepth

Most people on earth think they are fine where they are. They see no need for the Good News to be applied to them because, to them, their current life is all the news they need. Yet others have heard this message and have fallen on their knees in deep contrition, coming to God beating their chest, crying, "Lord, what must I do to be saved?"

It is in that moment where a person recognizes for the first time their own sin, and comes to a place of true repentance toward God.

But what causes someone to fall on their knees in deep contrition? Is it by good words and fair speeches of how God can make our lives better? Promises of health, wealth, and a blessed life? The Bible is clear on this: those are different gospels, and anyone who preaches such is worthy of being accursed (Galatians 1:8-9).

In order to understand the Good News, you must thoroughly understand and apply the bad news. Otherwise what you have is a situation where a doctor is trying to give a cure to a patient who believes they are perfectly healthy, while they have a deadly disease with only one cure. No rational person will ever accept a cure to something they do not think they have. You must provide evidence of the sickness before you can provide the cure.

That sickness is our sinful condition before God. But by what standard can we judge our sins? Can we look to our neighbour to the right or the left and use our own standard to measure them or ourselves? No other standard will do but the holy Law of God, which is meant to be the standard to compare yourself against.

The Test of the Law

Let us use that Law to examine ourselves.

Idol Worship

Have you always placed God as the highest priority in everything you said, did, and loved? The only person who honoured God perfectly in His life was Jesus. None of us has a history free from some sort of idol worship, whether it be money, pleasure, or self. You stand guilty before God of breaking His first commandment: "Thou shalt have no other gods before me." Exodus 20:3

Blaspheming The Name Of God

Have you ever blasphemed the name of God by using His name to cuss, or in light conversation? You blaspheme God when you do not give holy honor to the name of God, and use His name to swear, or without honor in conversation. The Bible declares only His enemies take His name in vain (Psalm 139:20). By doing this, you have broken another commandment of God, and stand guilty of breaking more than two of His commands: "Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain." Exodus 20:7

Committing Murder

Have you ever killed another person? Most will likely answer no, but did you know Jesus told us that even calling our brother a fool places us in danger of Hell fire (Matthew 5:22)? In 1 John 3:15 the Bible says, "Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him." By God's standard, if you have hated your brother, your fellow man, you are a murderer. Every time you have flipped someone off, cussed at someone, or been hatefully angry with them, you have committed murder in your heart toward them and stand condemned as a murderer in the eyes of God: "Thou shalt not kill." Exodus 20:13

Committing Adultery

Have you committed adultery? Most will say no because they have not cheated on their spouse, but did you know that Jesus said in Matthew 5:28 that if you look upon someone with lust, you have committed adultery with them already in your heart? By God's standard, you are also an adulterer by the very fact you have looked upon someone with lust. Even watching pornography is lust over someone or something and condemns you before God: "Thou shalt not commit adultery." Exodus 20:14

Committing Theft

Have you ever stolen anything? Even stealing a pen or a sheet of paper that did not belong to you is considered theft. If you took one dollar out of someone's wallet, you are still just as much of a thief as if you took ten dollars. The value of the thing has nothing to do with the act of theft. If you have stolen even one small thing, you are wholly guilty come judgement day and stand condemned before God: "Thou shalt not steal." Exodus 20:15

Lying

Have you ever lied? Lying is something that our society does as though it were a second language. Some people color their lies as white, saying it harmed no one, but a lie remains a lie even if you make it a different color. Everyone has told a lie, and most have gotten out of trouble or made much gain through lies. Yet if you have lied, it is an abomination before the Lord (Proverbs 12:22). You stand condemned before God through your lying lips: "Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour." Exodus 20:16

The Inescapable Dilemma

Take some time to reflect on what you have just read. Understand that your sins are serious to a holy and perfect God.

Imagine a scenario where a person assaults a fellow citizen and goes to court to be tried for their crime. They are found guilty and sentenced with the appropriate punishment. Now imagine that same person assaults a member of law enforcement. Their crime is now more severe, because those officers are sent by God to punish evildoers and establish the law in the land (Romans 13:3-4). Now if that same person were to assault a judge, the judgement would be far more severe still, especially as a repeat offender.

Now consider: you have not sinned merely against your neighbour. You have sinned against the living God, the Maker of heaven and earth, the righteous Judge before whom all things are laid bare. There is no standard of your own, no neighbourly comparison, no upbringing that can absolve you. You stand irreconcilably guilty of your own accord, without natural recourse to remedy your situation.

There is nothing you can do to get out of this predicament alone. You need one thing: the mercy of the Judge.

God Made a Way Through Jesus Christ

Here is where the Good News begins.

Because Jesus came, lived, died, and was raised again three days later, you now have a way out of the punishment you righteously deserve for your sins. God can now forgive you legally, because the punishment and payment for your sins have been paid in full. This is why the gift of salvation is truly free.

God loves you greatly, and to demonstrate this love He sent His Son Jesus Christ to die for your sins (1 John 4:9). Christ came and lived a perfect, sinless life, and He went to the cross willingly. On the cross He gave up His life to pay for your sins. His blood is guiltless. He was truly sinless. And by His blood you are set free (Romans 5:9-12). Three days later He rose from the grave, defeating sin and death.

But do all have this gift applied to them? Are all going to heaven? Or is there something you must do?

Jesus warned us in Matthew 7:21-23 that not everyone who says "Lord, Lord" and does works in His name will enter the kingdom of heaven. To those people He will profess: "I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity." So then if Jesus warned us that not even those doing works in His name are necessarily saved, what must we do?

What You Must Do

In short, those who work iniquity are those who lived in sin. Many false teachers will tell you that you have assurance of salvation if you "just believe." This is another gospel, and not the gospel Jesus nor the apostles preached.

Part of true genuine salvation is a complete change of heart and mind toward God, a complete surrender to God, and a total abandonment of sin, forsaking all that we have and all that we love to be His disciple (Luke 14:26-33). The key to understanding this, however, is recognizing that while the turning from sin is non-negotiable, the result of a life not lived in sin is a fruit of a changed heart, not the root. A person needs to have genuine contrition and repentance before God (Psalm 51:17). That change of heart and mind is the root of your accepting and believing in God, and the life that is ever increasingly purged from sin is the fruit of that changed heart (2 Timothy 2:19-22, John 17:17).

You must bow, in humble contrition, before the holy God and Father, and recognize your sin as exceedingly sinful, being utterly convinced, and from the depths of your sin, forsake it entirely. You need to confess your sins unto God (1 John 1:9) and turn your back on them. And this is the most important part: You must believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.

You must believe that through His blood you have been set free from sin and death, not to go and sin some more, but to sin no more (John 8:11). You have been called to walk holy and just (1 Thessalonians 2:12), to obey His commands (John 14:15, Luke 6:46), and to love one another (1 John 4:7-10).

Repentance is not merely a change of mind toward your sin and God. It is also a complete change of heart in forsaking your sins and following Christ, and allowing the work of the Holy Spirit to sanctify you and cleanse you of sin. You must trust alone in His work on that cross, not in your cleaned-up life, your prayer, or your own works.

God commands all men everywhere to repent (Acts 17:30). To be born again (John 3:7). Jesus Christ testified both to the Jews and to the Greeks: repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 20:21).

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Romans 10:9-10

Repent and believe the Gospel. Today is the day of salvation.

Be baptized, as it is a command (Matthew 28:19). Get into a real Christian fellowship, whether in a house church or a larger church body (1 John 4:7-10). You must obey the Lord, live for Christ, and not return to your life of sin. Walk in the light (1 John 1:4-10, Luke 9:62). Read your Bible daily (James 1:22, John 17:17, Psalm 119:105).
